Board Chair Welcome

Welcome to Saint Lawrence’s School. My name is Clare Venturini and this is my second year as the Board Chair at Saint Lawrence’s. The School Board consists of ten members, which include the Parish Priest and the School Principal.

Board Members

The role of the Board is to help the school fulfill its educational responsibilities in accordance with the guidelines and polices set out by the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia.

The Board is charged with the financial management of the school and is entrusted with planning to meet the present and future needs of students. Although the Board has no authority in the internal operation of the school it works closely with the staff through the Principal, to provide support and to act as an advisory service in the decision making process.

The Board meets on a monthly basis and is kept up to date about relevant school development, curriculum issues, Parish news and planned fundraising and social events involving the Parents and Friends. Involvement of the school community through the School Board allows Saint Lawrence’s to continue to value open, collaborative leadership where parents, children and staff are true partners.

Building and expansion of the school campus continues following the initial impetus of the “Building the Education Revolution” funds and the introduction of a third stream to the pre-primary school. To accommodate the growing student body a new covered area will be completed in the first half of 2015 followed shortly thereafter by the addition of new classrooms on the north side of the school.

The growth in the school, over the last few years, has not diminished or school culture. It remains strong and it is something to be both cherished and nurtured. It is evidenced by the tremendous parent involvement in our annual school fete (as well as the large number of leavers who return to help and enjoy the fete day regardless of the weather), the wonderful attendance at our assemblies, the end of term class performances, school mass attendance and the welcome feeling experienced, and often commented on, by all those who visit the school.   I am certain that you will find Saint Lawrence’s a welcoming community where your child will receive a rounded Catholic education.
